If you'd like to become a site sponsor, just make a donation of $20 or more using the Paypal button. Then register for site membership if you haven't already. I will personally designate you as a sponsor in the site's database. Yeah, I'm really Jody Hall, site owner, but I can be Joe Schmoe too. Apologies to any real life Joe Shmoe's out there.
Here's the basic idea. I wanted to come up with forum categories that are vastly different than other typical Flash / Actionscript websites. For example, I am not interested so much in Actionscript 1 or 2, only 3. So there are no categories for 1 and 2. I am not interested so much in Flex, so there is no Flex forum. I am more interested in Flash. That's not to say there is not a lot of overlap with Flex people, as Actionscript 3.0 is a common denominator. I am just not right now going to make a specific forum for Flex.
Just to say really enjoying the tutorials.
I have recently started working with as3 (after downloading a Flash CS5 demo). I have worked (messed about with) with AS2 for some years (Flash mx 2004 prof) and never really got to grips with the class system and all that jazz. When working through the class tutorials it was a real 'Eureka' moment for me!! (sad).
To Jody and all fellow forum members: Wishing you all a prosperous and happy 2011.
Hi all,
I just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone here in the Flash Connection community!

Dear Jody,
I work for a small training company in the UK, I'm 50 years young and I've decided to learn Flash to, hopefully, enhance the learning of my students. I was trawling the net to find an easy to use tutorial on building quizzes and your site has proved to be the best I have found.
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experiences and I am looking forward to many more tutorials from you.
Dear Jody,
Untill a few weeks ago I was very happy using Flash MX. I can make in that everything I like (see www.weereenlos.nl ). Then I found a system which makes CMS and search machine optimalisation very easy in Flash You can check this on www.tweedegolf.nl To use this system I had to upgrade to Flash cs4. What a difference!
But I think as3 is so good that I said to my clients I've a break until I master it ;-) A little preasure on me keeps me going.
I was looking at some code in my actions window and I noticed something I've seen before. Some of the letters in the code drop out. In other words some of the letters are cut off at random places within the code.
You would have to se it in my AS window to really understand. The code below shos how some of the letters are missing but in the actual code in my AS window, you can tell that the letters have been typed but they are somehow being "squished" or something so that they're not visible.
Hei.
