Welcome to my new forum!

Here's the basic idea. I wanted to come up with forum categories that are vastly different than other typical Flash / Actionscript websites. For example, I am not interested so much in Actionscript 1 or 2, only 3. So there are no categories for 1 and 2. I am not interested so much in Flex, so there is no Flex forum. I am more interested in Flash. That's not to say there is not a lot of overlap with Flex people, as Actionscript 3.0 is a common denominator. I am just not right now going to make a specific forum for Flex.

I could provide many more examples, Flex is just one. Anyway, I have narrowed the field of interest here to Flash and Actionscript 3.0, because that reflects my personal interests. I am not against any of these other topics, but it's perfectly logical to me to create categories that reflect my personal interests, because I want to attract a user base with those same interests. So if you love Flash and Actionscript 3.0, too, welcome aboard!

The forums I have provided are categorized with this idea: since it's all Flash and Actionscript 3.0, the categories are different aspects of working with those. So if you want to post a question or comment about MovieClips, for example, the Display Objects forum is for you. And so on-- I think you will find the categories well thought out and organized. And I feel this will make finding information on a given subject easier, too.

Note: My website is built using Drupal. I am not a Drupal expert, so this has been a real learning adventure for me. But because the Forum module of Drupal is not a true forum, it has some quirks. One of these is that if I give you the ability to edit your own post (and I have done this for all registered users), I am at the same time giving you ability to move it to a different category (forum) as well, even at a later time. This applies to the first posting in a thread only. You will see a dropdown box right under the subject line. This is a limitation, naturally, but that's the way it is. However, it might be considered an advantage, too, as you can always move your post if you later feel you may have categorized it wrongly.

It is with much trepidation that I start this up, and I'm not going to post a bunch of rules. I know the nature of public forums, and I'll just say that any form of abuse will not be tolerated. But on a good note, I am truly trying to set up a marketplace of ideas where people of similar interests can come and feel right at home.
