This tutorial is going to be a very simple (and quick) one. Using a very simple example, it will show you techniques for combining event listeners, and using arrays and loops to process your objects (MovieClips).
Have eagerly read both your recent articles even though I've been so busy at work. In fact I visit this site almost everyday in anticipation of another tutorial!! They 're Fabulous!!! Well written and clearly explained once again. Can't say enough about how much I have learnt from you. I'd buy you book if you were selling one so in the mean time I've donated something for you. Please check your account. Merry Christmas Jody.
Thanks, Ben, for the support and the encouragement. You can't imagine how much it helps! If you liked everything I've written so far, I think you are going to love the new scrollbar tutorial I just posted today! It was already in the works (barely), but your encouraging comment above actually helped prompt me to get busy and finish it.
By the way, I just added tweet buttons to all my articles! If you like what you are reading, tweet it on Twitter! It's incredibly easy to do. Just click the button, and the Tweet window is already filled out with a default tweet!
I'm wanting to reach more people, obviously! Thanks so much!
New here and I have to say you communicate these concepts so even an artsy, logic-challenged person like me can understand it. Sometimes I just give up trying to figure out these ideas but you have really made them easy to understand.
ex.
saying clipArray[0] is the same as saying square
saying clipArray[1] is the same as saying circle
saying clipArray[2] is the same as saying triangle
Arrays are hard to understand for a lot of people, especially at first. This was a great way to put it!
Thank you for your comment, which really made my day! I always appreciate feedback. Otherwise how will I know if I'm connecting with an audience and helping people? The streamlining tutorial is one of those with very few comments. Thanks for adding yours.
I'm a bit of a designer myself, which is why I like Flash so much. Straight code can be boring. How much nicer to be able to create graphical content first, then boss it around!
I'm almost done writing a tutorial on making a left-right-shooter game, which I'll be posting very soon (I'm working on the last page)! I'm betting you'll like it. I'm going to try to finish it today.
I'm trying to do an educational project using flash, I'm quite a beginner and I'm finding here a lot of simple but really useful resources. If I finish before deadline, you will deserve much of the credit!
Thanks a lot, you are helping me very much.
I love your very simple tutorials Jody

No idea why the formatting went haywire, sorry about that!
Your comment was appreciated!
